"On the evening of January 15, 1990, demonstrators took possession of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) headquarters in Berlin-Lichtenberg. It was there that the Berliner Bürgerkomitee (Berlin Committee of Citizens) organized the dissolution of the Stasi. One week later the Zentrale Runde Tisch (The Central Round Table) decided that a memorial site and research centre should be established in House No. 1 at Stasi-Headquarters". (
