Saalfeld district chairwoman Edith Ludwig and police officers from East and West in conversation at the newly opened border crossing between Lauenstein, a neighborhood of Ludwigsstadt (Bavaria) and the town of Probstzella (Thuringia). The border was opened to pedestrian and auto traffic on 12 and 13 November 1989, respectively. The photo was taken near Falkenstein cliff, after which the border crossing is named.
