Street leading to the former inner German border between Lauenstein, a neighborhood of Ludwigsstadt (Bavaria) and the town of Probstzella (Thuringia). Beginning in the counties Kronach (Bavaria) and Sonneberg and Saalfeld (Thuringia), the border was opened on 11 November 1989, and for pedestrians and auto traffic on 12 and 13 November 1989, respectively. The photo was taken near Falkenstein cliff, after which the border crossing was named.
