The "Brunnen der Völkerfreundschaft" (Friendship among the Peoples Fountain), unveiled in 1970, was created by a group of artists led by Walter Womacka (translated and retrieved from Wikipedia-Artikel, on May 25, 2009) and is a protected monument. The "Stadt Berlin" Interhotel, now known as the Park Inn Berlin-Alexanderplatz, is visible in the background.
