Following construction of the Wall, U2 line trains stopped at Gleisdreieck or, after January 1, 1972, at Wittenbergplatz. "Crowds flocked to the so-called "Polish market" every Saturday and Sunday. It was great during and after rain showers due to the giant puddles that would form, making browsing and bargaining at the market so unbelievably attractive. Planks had to serve as piers."
