"The city had gone totally berserk during those few days. It was no longer possible to take the U-Bahn out of the city centre because all the underground stations were hopelessly overcrowded or closed. Sometimes it was possible to jump on a bus, but they too were totally overrun. That weekend I ended up walking from the Ku'damm to Steglitz, where I lived. There was no other way for me to get back."
