"In June 1990, SKET GmbH started into a new era. Despite multi-million subsidies, even the second attempt to transfer the heavy engineering company to private ownership failed in 1996. Most of the former production plants and facilities have since been demolished. What has been left are extensive waste lands in the middle of the city." (from: Stadt im Wandel.
